Thats true, maybe...As long as you have the proper number of axles on the trailer and meet the Federal Bridge Requirements in your State, it would be legal. For example, here in Michigan, the weight limits are stated per axle accord to Federal Bridge Standards with a maximum weight of 161,000 pounds on an 11 axle unit. With my 1 ton Ford, pulling my 3 axle drop gooseneck I get 13,000 pounds on each trailer axle. Just a leagal weight on the trailer would overgross the capacity of the truck which is 20,000 GVCW. However, I could theoretically haul 54,000 pounds gross on that unit. Subtract the weight of the truck and trailer, Truck-7000 pounds, trailer 10000 pounds= 17000pounds. Take 54000pounds -17000pounds which is 37000 pounds CARGO WEIGHT and legally cross a scale in Michigan. I don't think the driveline in the Ford could take it, but it can be done. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
