hay mowers - Kuhn vs. Massey

We're looking at a disc mower and wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations about these 2 brands. Of course the literature about each talks about different aspects, and the different sales staff want to sell their product and don't know about the other. I want to compare apples to apples and it's hard.

The models we are looking at are the Kuhn 600 and the MF 1307.

Both disc mowers are premium brands and will do a fine job. The Kuhn is made in France and the MF is assembled in the USA with the cutterbar made in Italy as is the New Idea.
The main difference is the shaft drive of the MF is newer technology. You can operate the MF straight up an down all day and the Kuhn has an oil bath transmission and can not do this. Also You can fix the shaft drive is very little time. The Kuhn has one big oil bath bed that needs to be disassembled and must wait for RTV silicone to cure up the seal before refilling. Typical oil bath transmission repairs take 2 days work, while the shaft drive can have a total overhaul in less than 4 hours. The shaft drive operates with less HP and has less moving parts. Lely pioneered the shaft drive concept.

Kuhn is the mother of all disc mowers. But I for one am wondering why you eliminated Fort Disc mowers. I have seen a Fort disc mower at a close distance and it does look good. And, I think its price is the best in disc mower market. Maybe, Agri-Supply MF mowers can compete them?
