Looking to buy an additional hayride wagon in or near Florida.

Also looking for anyone doing this for money that could share where they get their insurance.

I have a school fall festival that wants a hay ride and thought that I might pick up a few bucks doing Christmas light rides for a couple of the subdivisions.

Thanks.

Do it for fuel donations. Donation being the key word. Liability is a key word too, that should be avoided. Donations avoid liability.

Did that once when I was in my 30's. Had a miserable time. It was COLD, windy, the kids were grumpy, the moms were too. Xmas lites get looked at from a warm vehicle now.

Labor Day hayrides are a LOT of fun. Mustaches don't freeze to your chin whiskers in September.

Reading a little from insurance policy specifically says they don’t cover hay rides.

I’m not one to write off every idea as bad because you could potentially get sued but attempting a for profit hay ride has bad idea all over it.

OP is in Florida, so I don't think Iowa-style cold is ever a problem. All insurance policies are different. I am sure you could get one if you are willing. Roustabout has the better idea. Not really a profit idea, but getting fuel donations may work.

From a rider's perspective, I wouldn't like a hay ride above about 40 degrees. Half of the fun was cuddling up with the pretty girl who 'forgot' to bring a warm enough jacket/blanket.

I did a hay ride for the sub-division a couple of times. Watch out for kids getting in front of the wagon while it is still moving!!!!! I did this at Halloween and when we stopped (actually, before we were completely stopped) the kids would bail out from all sides of the wagon. I had 3' sides on 3 sides of the wagon to limit access to the back of the trailer, but that didn't stop them from climbing over the sides and front of the trailer. The parents were riding with them and didn't control them. Had one incident where a kid climbed over the front while still moving, be sure to have a mirror. Good brakes kept him from being run over, but dumped everyone else on the floor.

Agreed, Halloween is a good time for cuddling on a hayrack ride.....and a warm bottle of brandy.
