I was spraying it on my Giant Bermuda field. Right next to my alfalfa field so I had to be real careful. I have an old wylie 100 gallon 20 foot wide sprayer. I had to rebuild everything on it this winter but it's working great now. My next step for that sprayer is an extra 100 gallon tank on the front of my tractor. Also mounting a pressure gauge in the cab. With those huge nozzles I run I have to increase my pto speed as the tank level goes down to maintain 30 psi. It's a pain in the neck, literally, constantly turning around to look at the gauge.
2-4-D likes it hot to work. This morning, everything I sprayed yesterday is laying on the ground already. I've heard a lot of bad stuff about that chemical health wise though so if you have a cab tractor I'd sure suggest using it. I even went as far as getting a charcoal filter for my AC unit to filter it as much as possible. I also don't spray if the wind is enough to make my flag move outside.
I also sprayed the two empty fields I have waiting to plant. I've been waiting on a grass drill to be completed for two months now so they aren't planted yet. After a lot of phone calls to the dealer that ordered the drill for me It was finally delivered on friday. I was not happy at all. It was a repainted antique piece of junk with new tires is all. It was so worn out that the drive gears wouldn't even engage. Definitely not what I ordered.
The dealer came and got it and was very appologetic. They are having another one, a brillion this time in good shape, trucked in early this week that they found in another state for me at no extra cost.
I have several bags of teff seed that have been sitting here ready to plant for a couple months and now I'm going to be one cutting behind on those fields at least. Probably more since June is our wettest month usually and I was counting on that rainfall to get the grass up good before July gets here.
