Lot's of hay this past season.. and lot's of rain to make it grow. Too bad that some of that rain comes when you don't want it!! My Dad was 88 yrs. old this past summer (he's 89 now) and still humpin' bales outta the field!

This was our first year and plenty of lessons were learned. We have no equipment, but we have great neighbors with plenty of experience to teach us. Our farm is on sand and it was a very dry and hot summer so our yields were down.

Last cut of the year ready for baling. This is a mixture of grasses.

We learned that when it is going to rain, use any vehicle you have to get it out of the field:

Notice my neighbor's hay wagon. Rear wheels from the 1920s and fronts from the turn of the 20th century (steel wheels):

Here is the rake we used. 1906 model. Converted from horse drawn arrangement. Home-spun, but it works like a charm:
