HD Bucket holes

Lots of posts of people attaching toothbars but does anyone use a bolt on cutting edge attached to the holes in the bucket? What else would those holes be for? When I was reading the Markam site about their tooth bar they indicate it will not fit over the bolt on edge. It would seem to me that you wouldn't want the toothbar if leveling gravel on driveways or dirt, now I'm green at that stuff so maybe there is another way.

Here is a picture of the cutterbar attached. Many/most toothbars will not fit over it. The cutter bar is reversible as shown in the inset. As you mentioned, it is ideal for smoothing out gravel and sand. It also strengthens the cutting edge and is an aid in digging, but not as good at digging as the toothbar.

My bucket looks very close to that, but yet, there are no holes at all. We call it that cutter bar, bolt on reversable cutting edge. Why would there be some buckets with holes and other without? Does that have maybe to do with a light, medium or heavy dudty bucket?

Regular duty (medium duty?) buckets don't have the holes for the cutterbar/bolt-on cutting edge.

Jinman... I have been looking for such a bar. where do you get one, My bucket is starting to wear from snow removal and scraping stuff off blacktop drive. I would like to get one before too much more wear. Thanks, John

I have the standard 60" 14LA bucket on my TC29DA. That bucket came with the holes for a cutting bar. I installed the cutting edge for all the stated reasons. NH does make a toothbar that will fit over an installed bolt on cutting edge. You can obtain the part numbers for the various size buckets at Messick Farm Equipment and Outdoor Power - Parts, Sales & Service. I am currently "working" the "comptroller" for a tooth bar. Jay

The dealer should carry some... anyhow... my dealer does.

Jay, is your bucket quick-attach? All QA buckets are HD buckets. To get a standard duty bucket, it has to be a pin-on bucket. I think if you will look at the 14LA on the Messicks link in your post, you will see what I mean. They show a standard 60" pin-on bucket that doesn't have holes and a HD pin-on bucket with the holes. I could be wrong, but I think only standard weight pin-on buckets do not have the holes. It's my understanding that all Q-A buckets are HD buckets.

John, if your Mahindra dealer does not have one, you might order one from a New Holland dealer, but you might have to drill your own holes in your Mahindra bucket to match the bolt-on cutting edge. Does your Mahindra bucket have holes? You might get lucky and they would match.

BTW: The bolt-on edge is about $200, so it's only about $100 less than a toothbar. That's why I think so many people just get the toothbar.
