head lights and other things

I think I see why there is talk about how to put lights up on the ROPS. The brush guard on the TC34DA puts a set of big bars right in the middle of the high beams. The loader arms are right where the angled out low beams are.
I will have to run it out in the dark and see what it actually looks like. Would be nice if the guard guys talked to the head lite guys.

Can't have everything in an otherwise perfect machine I guess.
I was out the other doing tractor things and when I was walking back from the barn I noticed a set of nicely space oil drops along the driveway. Long story short it was one of the external hose fittings cross threaded. I have never done that before in my life. I remember thinking it looked a little funny . No harm done just 2 gal of speedy dry on all the spills, that took a while but oil cuts through blacktop really bad.

If you don't like putting them on the ROPS you could always drill the hood and mount them there like they used to do on some of the old iron.

You could also use a fiberglass or metal sunshade. Then you could get the lights further toward the front of the machine where they might be better aimed to do more good. Just another way of looking at things.....

Why not mount the h-lamps to the laoder frame... My old fords with laoders have a lamp on the loader frame.. works out nicely.

An FYI, it won't be long and HID lighting kits will be very affordable for our tractors. I have been keeping my eye on them. Just a year ago, a good setup with 2 lights was running about 300.00. Now, they are down to 129.99 for a pair. When they get below 100.00, I am going for it!

For true High Intensity Discharge lights, not just lookalikes?? I would think the automotive aftermarket for auxilliary lights would be snapping them like crazy at even $300 per pair. A set of true HID headlights is around $2000 if you break your BMW.

What brand lights are you talking about, how big are they, and where can I find them?

I'd mount on ROPS. What I would do, is purchase a set of lights with a standard bulb type (H1, H4, etc). and then swap out the conventional bulbs with the HID's... question would be where to mount the ballasts so it doesn't look cobbled together. You'd need to protect the electronics from the weather as well.

Interesting. I checked on site on EBay that said US SELLER. The use of English in the material did not serve to support the idea of a US SELLER, by any means.

Before anyone invests in these kits, I suggest you read through David Stern's lighting website. You can search under David Stern. These kits will give the street/boy racer crowd a car that has "HID" lighting, but I doubt if they will come near the performance of real HID lamps so far as lighting up the road. The stock reflector/bulb arrangement is not designed for this type of light output and mostly you will annoy the heck out of oncoming drivers.

On a tractor, they might just be worth the investment.

I bought a set of used lights that use an H4 bulb (hi-lo). Going to mount those to the ROPS.

Will most likely buy one of the cheap Chinese HID setups for ~$70 and replace the traditional H4's with the single H4 setup (no hi-lo, just one beam).

It's for the tractor; not worried about blinding my fellow land owners
