The Biltmore House in Asheville and historic Williamsburg are worth visiting if you haven't already done so.

Steve

I was thinking the same thing.

I agree. Although your trip will be in Spring, Biltmore is Beautoful during the Christmas Season. Stay safe on your trip.

thanks guys so much. I'm taking notes needless to say. Yes, the parks are a biggie, and so are those museums. Car museums, tractor museums, tractor factories...(needless to say I like anything with an engine...)

This was my wife's and my bucket list dream trip. Now I'm going alone, but I'm pretty self reliant so I can make this work.
And yes, the people along the way will be the best part. And somebody has to find something for me to look at in the Dakotas... well, thank goodness for cruise control and a coffee pot. I'm probably going to drive only four or five hours a day, I learned that boating, you just get too tired. On this trip, it's the going, not the getting there. Which is a real first for me. No time schedule, Woodalls on my laptop, and each evening I'll plan the next day. Just like taking my boat down to Florida where we headed out each day on the Intracoastal, never having done it before. Each day a new adventure.
Which is what life is, but having put my forty in, going to work was not the adventure I wanted. Finally I get to do this.

so keep those good ideas coming in please. I'll update the map/route as needed.

Darn man!
To take a screen shot get your cursor in the frame and do Alt PrtScr (that's the Alt key and the print screen key).

Then drop that into something, even Paint, modify it as you wish, save it (I prefer JPG) and upload it.

Good luck on your trip!

I know, I know, I know...I actually knew how to do this once...even knew how to use Edlin and Edit, but
my pc used to fight any screen print off the internet, maybe it was being blocked by nanny devices, but I could never get it to work. Ok, Ok, I'll try. I can do this. :D

I really liked the Great Salt Lake and the Bonnieville Salt Flats

Along with Zion do Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley, Arches, Canyon De Chelly, Sedona, AZ, Glen Canyon, Petrified Forest, Painted Desert and so many more. Look into getting a Passport America membership. Can save you lots of money at campgrounds.

Before you get to the Grand Canyon, go by the the Petrified Forest museum, it is mind boggling and just South of 40 from the GC' You will also be close to the Custer battlefield ( SE Montana), that is a neat place to let you're imagination go crazy. Deadwood SD is a cool little town in the mountains, a couple of casinos and the old saloons from the mining days still there. You can go into the same saloon Wild Bill Hickock was killed and where the "dead-mans hand" was coined, he is buried up the hill with Calamity Jane.
