Started with a B-20 Kubota, then B2910, now L2800
I noticed that I had a headlight out on my L2800. I pulled the bulb out and it looked fine. I thought I would pull the other side that was working fine and try it on the side that was not working to see if maybe it was a wiring problem. It was real cold outside and I dropped the good bulb and it shattered. No big deal I thought. These bulbs look like a standard 1157 auto tail light bulb except they are smaller and have a flat skirt on the bottom that hold the bulb in place. I called my dealer and ask if he had a couple, he did't have any in stock. I told him to get me a couple and I would pick them up next Friday. I stoped in and ask if they were in and he came out with the two bulbs. He handed me the bill and I couldn't beleive what it said $27.95 for two bulbs that shouldn't cost more than a couple bucks apiece. For that price I could get two halogen driving lights a mount them on my ROPs. This is a major draw back to owning a Kubota. Parts are outrageous when you do need them. Boys take care of your headlight bulbs, replacing them will bankrupt you. Sorry, just had to vent.

For Kubota that is a give away orice.

Price the headlight clear lens cover sometime if you want to go into coronary arrest!

I'm not surprised. Kubota parts are expensive. I wonder if you could have bought the same thing at an auto parts store for a fraction of that price. I go directly to my Kubota dealer when I have absolutly no other choice.

You should be able to put in third party bulbs. The bulbs in mine aren't the Kubota bulbs - I put in higher wattage bulbs. Much more better light.

Kubota parts are pricey. They do encourage you to buy Kubota branded parts, oils, etc., but from what I've seen all that does is cost more $$$. Unless you are of the belief that its gotta be Kubota branded, looking for third party substitutes is a lot less expensive and just as good (or better) in most cases.

Check out filter prices, for example - you'll pay twice as much for the Kubota branded filter. I've seen the lengthy discussions on the topic of "is X better than Y" and don't mean to start that one (again) here. Just agreeing that Kubota parts are expensive ;-)...

I bought air filters for my L3010 at the John Deere dealer. They are the same as JD and made in Ohio.

Don't be afraid to look on e-Bay either.

As for oil-and the amount of time at any one stretch I use my tractor and the mild climate here in Oregon-I plan to use Costco trans fluid from here on. It is UDT and I see absolutely no reason to pay for S-UTD.

Hello everybody.
One thing that I learned after buying my BX 1830 was the headlight bulbs were Junk!
I got 30 watt 1157 halogen backup bulbs and installed .
Man what a difference.
Hope this helps.

I had to replace the same type of bulb on my B8200- looked like a 1157, but marked only PEACE 25w/25w. I couldn't find any at the autoparts stores (wish I had seen those 30w halogen backup bulbs) so I wound up ordering one from the dealer. Cost me about $5 + 2 for shipping. Exactly like the 20 year old one when I compared the two. My tractor's alternator is only 35 watts, so I gotta be careful with the lighting. **** of a battery, though.

Your bulbs should have an ANSI coded number that the auto parts store can look up and order if they don't have them in stock.

I checked the local Nappa and Auto Zone, they neither could do me any good.

I will agree with you on the third party filters. I do the same when it comes time to change the fluids in my tractors. I have used Nappa or Baldwin filters in all the past three Kubotas I have owned and never had a filter problem and saved hundreds of dollas in the process. I tried to see about the bulbs, from a auto parts dealer, but did no good.

My old B2910 used the standard 1157 bulb, but the L2800 are different. They have the same base as an 1157 bulb, but the glass is smaller and the base has a flat skirt that hold the bulb in. The mounting hole socket on the light itself is smaller and will not let the larger 1157 bulb go in to the housing. I thought about taking the skirt off the bulbs and JB Welding them on a standard 1157 bulb, but with the larger glass housing on the 1157 it would not go into the socket

Is there any lettering or numbers on the bulb or the base.

Hello again guys.
These 1157 bulbs are a standerd 1157 base so they should mount in your light sockekets .
Just put the bulb in and you are good to go.
It made a big difference in lighting .
