I've had success with toothpaste, it has just enough abrasive to clear them up. I've done it with cars for years.

I saw a kit at Harbor Freight to clear clouding lenses. I don't remember the price, but it wasn't too expensive.

All auto parts stores sell kits with a buffing wheel and compound. It's easy to do. My truck headlights have done the same thing, so just buff them out.

I assumed that it could be done with some sort of 'household' chemical. and ill try toothpaste as well.Do we use a tooth brush too? or maybe a auto buffer?Or just ole elbow grease?
thanks for the post

My Dk35 has the same issue with cloudy light Lenses. I assume the problem is on the inside. How do you get inside the housing to clean the lens?

If the lens is cloudy on the inside, there is an outgassing problem with the materials used in the light source. Youll probably have to replace the lens.
On the outside, there are many products out there. I used a 3M product on my passat headlights and the stuff worked increadible. Its basically 3 steps of fine sandpaper (up to 3000 grit) finished off with a buffing compound. My lenses went from not being able to see the bulb to almost crystal clear. The only issue is that by doing this, you are removing the clear coat that is providing UV protection for the lens.

The clouding of the lenses on lights is going to be a big problem down the road for everything made with the plastic lenses. The kits they have out work real well on shining the lenses back to like new. Sure is cheaper than buying new ones.

That is one thing the old glass lights had going for them they did not cloud up and are alot cheaper to replace than the plastic lenses or light assembly. The glass lights are not as bright as the clear plastic lenses are.

Sometimes the old ways of doing stuff is just as good if not better than the new ways. Shoot alot of the old glass lights would still be working with water in them.
