Headphones Recommendation

My sons gave me a set of Peltor Race Tunes. The only thing I can compare them to is some old shooting muffs and an am/fm muff set from wally world or radio shack. The Peltor set claims a noise reduction rating of 22 decibels. (per the box) They do block out a lot more noise than the other stuff I was using. Don't have a clue what they cost but I like 'em.

My dozer is the loudest thing I have and it's extremly loud. I wear ear plugs AND head phones and after a day on it, my head is still raddled for an hour or so afterwards.

I found that a really good pair of music headphones really make a difference. Mine are Sennheiser and I bought them because of the reviews I read and thier price. They cover the full ear and are very comfortable.

I plug them into a radio and can listen to AM talk or FM music very clearly at a minimum level without having any problems from the noise of the dozer.

After a day wearing them on the dozer, I'm fine. No problems at all!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For me, they are better than ear plugs and headphones combined.

I do not have noise cancelling Ear Protectors but I do use AO Saftey Work Tunes from Home Depot. They ran $50 and have held up to about 200 hrs so far. Noise reduction is 22 dbA and radio volume is limited to 82 dbA. I never get even close to turning them up that loud.

They are comfortable and the radio breaks-up the monotony of mowing and such. I don't use the radio when concentration or communication is required.
