Hearing Aid advice

   / Hearing Aid advice #331
Yesterday I signed up for a set of Resound Linx2 behind-the-ear speaker-in-the -ear hearing aids. This will replace the the set I have been using for the last 7 years. The old set have been cranked up in volume to the extent that in some circumstances they are producing a lot of feedback. Sound bouncing back from the driver's door window is a problem and taking a leek has noise bouncing from both walls and extreme loud whistling in both ears. (all the more reason to use the back porch)

One of the claimed advantages of this new set is the ability to control volume and tone from an app called GN Resound on my phone. Has anybody had any experience using this app ??

I use the GN Resound app on my Galaxy S5 and it works well, I like it. There are some not so good reviews, but the hearing aid guy set it up on my phone and all is good for me. Sounds like you got the Resound aids similar to mine, I think you'll like them, no more screeching in the left ear when driving. With my old aids, when the organist in church would hit certain notes, they would scream and I would sometime have to wave my hand by my ear to get them to stop.

Thanks for that. Does the app allow you to put the TV sound and the incoming voice from the telephone calls direct to the hearing aid ?? It seems to be one of the features of the iPhone but it seems to be a major complaint in the reviews on the Samsung.

We drive on the left side of the road so the driver sits on the right, passenger seat is on my left, and I don't have a wife so there is no problem of screeching in the left ear. Now the right is another story....

UPDATE

I went to Beltone the other day for my test, seems i have a 16% hearing loss & we tried a behind the ear set with the tube in the ear. They were very comfortable & after a few minutes of tweaking i asked where the restroom was, yep, i went & flushed the commode, i heard my wife & him laughing down the hall & the racket from the commode. I could also hear them behind me when they left the room & spoke behind my back, then there was the little noises.
Yesterday at work, one of our soft spoken girls came up & asked me a question, i had to get within 2' of her to hear her repeat it twice, i can't wait til the Aids arrive.
I & the wife felt very comfortable with the Beltone visit so we went with it. I'm starting a new job the first of Nov. with John Deere, after managing a flyshop for 16 years. It's close to home & naturally more money:thumbsup:
I paid a little more than what ya'll have stated about Costco, they gave me a couple of discount's that really helped a lot. The place is 25 minutes from the house, on the route to my new job & he said we could work with the hours as far as tuneups & so on, which would be late in the day. While they are lenient at the new job, i don't want to take advantage right off the bat.
I thank everyone's response on this thread & can't wait to post another update once i start my journey into hearing again.
Oh yeh, i went outside to call the wife at lunch yesterday as i usually do, she asked where the chirping birds were, i looked everywhere & finally spotted them 10' away in a bush, couldn't hear them:mur:

I don't know about the new Kirkland Signature series 7.0, but my Signature series 6.0 have that capability although it takes an additional pocket device that is almost $300. I didn't get that although I can add it at any time. The device is called ReSound Unite Phone Clip+. Looks like the BLU RCU is the device for the new Series 7.0 by Rexton.

MF283, let us know how you like your new world, for me, it's like watching TV and going from a single speaker to surround sound.

Go to the web site and input what you want, they put you intouch with a dealer.

I'm on my third week with the aids now, wear them at work everyday & typically out at home while doing things around the farm'
What a difference, i can talk through my phone with them & can hear things i haven't heard before. Some low talking folks or someone at a distance is still trying at times, we're still tweaking them though.
I 've been a little slow responding to folks at times, it takes a second to realize i actually heard what they said, then i respond, weird.
Seems like the batteries are good for a week, they gave me a good supply before i have to start buying them.
I'll update again in a few weeks.

I'm on my third week with my new set. off today for some fine tuning and to tie them into my cell phone. A couple of minor niggles, get a very low background ssssssss noise on the left when listening to a radio, battery a little inconsistent. one barely lasted 5 days but it could have been bad manufacture.
