hearing protector/radio

OK, I'm coming in late on this thread...

A lot of good (and very funny) stuff here.

I have a couple Walkmans, work tunes... (but none of the high-tech stuff Dargo and tillerkiller have), but never use while operating equipment. Listening to an engine run is music to my ears /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I also want to be able to hear every other noise in my environment. Sounds are a great indicator of potential problems or issues. Am I alone on this one?

I do wear good ear protection when operating very loud stuff.

Around the yard, I just crank up the Bose 251's and AR speakers. The whole valley then gets plenty of sound.

The Pro Ears Dimension 2 head phones allow you to hear everything and still protect your hearing. They also allow you to connect a radio, CD player, etc. to one side of the headset. You can still hear the engine, birds chirping, etc. They work very well.

I tied my tongue into a knot with this one.

second, Pink Floyd tries to fake you out that they have recorded the album at low volume. They got me and I turned my stereo up about three quarters of the way to full volume. Then you get settled back down and BOOM! they blast you with maximum drums/bass/loudness etc... It really scared the cat and he took off on a dead run. Scared me too, it was _really_ loud.

ps... the album is actually a story, not individual songs just strung together. (rock and roll for those that don't know)

The Wall was a great movie as well. A certain "mindset" helped but we won't go there.
