95 degree heat and tall grass kicked my L35's *** today. I couldn't keep the the gage out of the red. The radiator wasn't clogged and the brush hog's blades weren't dull. The heat and the tall thick fescue were just too much. I cut again later in the day and I'll finish up tomorrow morning early.

Thermostat?...I would think you could still operate under those conditions.

Doesn't sound right. The temp guage on mine never moves no matter how hot or cold it is outside, unless the screen gets plugged. Then it goes up right away. If the L has a removeable screen in front of the radiator like the B, I'd pull it out and check it. Or maybe blow out the radiator itself to see if it's got a lot of fluff in it.

I cut this all day long. Only time it overheats is when the radiator screen is clogged. Philip.

I had a similar thing happen on my BX2350 while mowing trails. It was about 95 outside too, but the mowing was very light. I shut it down and restarted 5 minutes later after checking the radiator screen (it was clean). No problems after that. It stays in the normal range. I'm thinking it was just a fluke. Plenty of anti-freeze and its a new tractor with 12 hrs on it.

Something is wrong as I have mowed very tall grass and brush with my L5030 and not had overheating issues.

kburton when it's hot and dusty you have to frequently hose down your radiator screens and side cover screens.

Last week before the rains came after 20 minutes of brush hogging the side screens looked like this. Also it helps to back blast the radiator fins with compressed air too.
