Hi There!

New / Used Toolcat owner here! And new poster to the group. I did a quick search but can’t seem to find anything related.

I’m having an issue where when I sent my heater / AC fan above 3, I blow a fuse. Could this be a sign that the fan motor is just on its way out?

Thanks for any help / suggestions! Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

what series Toolcat, only time I have had this the fan was restricted from rotating due to mice, does the fan stop instantly or slows down, you could have a bearing going, does yours have the resistor block to give the speed for the motor?

other thing has it ever ran above 3? if used is the correct fuse in

Hi Laurence!
Thanks for such a quick answer! I’m still trying to figure out the ‘versions’. Sorry like I said pretty new to the Toolcat gang!

It’s a 2014 model. It seems to pop off pretty instantly. I will take a closer look for debris and see if I can clean / lube it up a bit.

Hope you’re having a great Christmas!

The fan motor on my 2009 D series makes a screeching sound when cold like it's a dry bearing. I looked into it and their pretty pricey. Might we worth taking out and cleaning what you and oiling any bearings. You can also bench test it for amp draw.

if it stops instantly thats a sign the bearings are dry or seized, remove the side cover and turn it by hand to see if its stiff or free, if stiff spray some thin oil at the bearing housing ans see if it will free up

I am going to take a good detailed look in there and make sure it’s all good and clean and then oil it up. Let you know how it turns out!

Thanks again!
