Good heavily built items. I wonder what the cost would be. I had a guy build me a 7 foot deck out of 1/4" plate with 307 model Bushhog components. He estimated it at 1500# but from the website, I would say more than 2000# as mine has dual tail wheels and all 1/4" plate, top and sides. Even with the 1/4" plate, hitting a small rock (bigger than a soft ball) and sending it crashing into the sides will cause a small dent. He charged me $1500 for the re-build which I thought was a fair price. I suspect that these will run $4K or more for a 7 foot.

Bruce,
That site has some good stuff. I spent some time last night working on a laser trailer design similar to theirs. Good to see some similar builds to get ideas from.
Thanks for posting.

Holy cow! 1370 lbs for a 60" mower??!! That's not even in the same area code as other mowers. Problem is, a lot of the smaller guys running 60" mowers can't run that kind of weight on the compact tractors.

If it is actually built just like the 307, but the addition of 1/4" top deck as opposed to the standard 7 ga,, My guess would be in the 1750# range. Bushhog lists 1701# standard and thats with the dual tail wheels I believe. And I think it also is standard with 1/4" sidebands.

Still a quite heavy piece though/

And I think about ever major manufacture makes a pretty heavy 1200lb+ cutter in the 60" size.

Landprides 3660, bushhog 325 and 405, and woods BB6000x I think all top 1300#

That is what I was thinking. On our landscape around here it would be a little scary with a smaller tractor and that heavy of a mower. Seems almost overbuilt. I guess if you are on flat ground and want to knock down bigger trees you would be set - at least on the mower side

I had a Howse light weight bush hog once and when looking at the components (gear box, stump jumper, blades, PTO) they were the same for the light weight as the heavy deck with 1/4" plate. I mowed over some really big trees with that 1/8" or less thick deck. What does happen with the thin decks is that they can bend and rust out much easier than a thick on. As for cutting capacity, I don't think that would make any difference. As stated, everyone makes a cheap thin plated deck and a super heavy deck and some in between. It is just a matter of how much you are willing to pay. Perhaps dealers don't keep a really heavy deck in stock due to demand, but I am sure they could order one for you from any of the major brands if they have the dealership for them.
Trailer pull types are available for small tractors to pull heavy duty mowers also.
On my land, I have lots of rocks and it seems that I hit a new one each time I mow. They did a lot of damage to my lightweight Howse on the left side when they were slung into it but not so much on my 1/4" thick 307 model bushhog.
