Does anyone have any experience using the JD heavy duty bucket on their JD 2305. I plan on using this bucket for snow removal and the HD Bucket is already predrilled for replaceable scrapper attachment. I would also be using the bucket with a toothbar to remove some small sapplings and would think the HD bucket would hold up better than the standard bucket.

I personally think the 61" bucket is to big for your tractor. The 54" is a much better match. The standard bucket will hold up fine with a toothbar. For snow removal, you could use a rear blade or fashion "wings" for the sides of your smaller bucket.

I had a 53 on my 4110. It was enough bucket that at times the tractor was unable to lift the material in the bucket. I have a 61 on my 3720, and it seems to be perfect for sand and gravel.

with lighter material, the 61 would be OK, but if you were to use it with anything substancial, I fear the tractor would be unable to lift it, or be unsteady due to the width on a narrow machine.

earthly,

I have used the 53" to remove snow when I took my snowblower off too early :) and it was a handfull with wet snow. I think the 61" would be too much for what you describe. I also think with the toothbar it would be a stretch.

With the 53in bucket and heavy loads it's hard to get enough weight on the back of the tractor, feels a little light. With a 61in bucket it will be hard to keep the a__ from coming up. My weight box is 850lbs do not have wheel weights or loaded tires. With loaded tires, wheel weights and weight box you might be ok. As for the toothbar I have one but do not have enough time using it to answer.

The 61inch heavy duty bucket and specialy JD tooth bar would be to heavy for the 2305. i got a standard 61 inch bucket and JD tooth bar on my 2520 and it works fine. but i can tell you when i take the tooth bar off. its all you can do to just walk it across the floor. picking it up and carrieing it around is out of the question. you can put it on a 2305. but you ant going to have much lift capasity. it was really made for a 3000 seris..;)

Chris....:)

Another thing to consider is breakout force. You only have so much and with a smaller bucket that amount of force is concentrated over a smaller area, less chance for the loader to bog down. I have moved some darn big rocks with the 53 inch bucket even before the toothbar went on and no bending at all. If you need a bigger bucket just for snow make some sheet metal extensions.

Hi guys, i'm a new member, but have been reading for quite some time. I thought i'd jump in on this one and put in my $.02 worth... I have a 2210 with a 200cx loader and did get the 61" bucket. I don't have the tooth bar, but the tractor seems to handle it quite well. For ballast, if I'm going to do any real lifting, I'll put on my box blade and hang 160 lbs of tractor weights on it. I can lift a full bucket of dirt with no problem at all and the back tires are still planted on the ground. I don't know as I'd recommend doing a lot of full bucket lifting, especially if you were to get into gravel, but the way i see it is the capacity is there if i need it. I haven't run into any issues with breakout force... yet... I've had experience with a 2210 and the 53" bucket also, but for me, the 61" does the trick ;).

BTW - great forums here, I love this place!

Dmax:

The 61" 'materials' bucket for the 2305 is much lighter than the 61" HD bucket. I have a 2305 with the 53" bucket and it's about 180lbs. I have a 3720 with the 61"HD bucket and it's very heavy. The HD's are braced and also have a replaceable cutting edge for a lot of extra weight.

Ahh, good point orlo, sorry about that... With a loaded materials bucket, i wouldn't want to have to deal with the added weight of the HD bucket. That would definitely take a big bite out of your operating capacity.
