Thanks for the link. I thought I read that John McCain was the pilot of the A-4 that was struck by the errant missle and was in the cockpit when the incident unfolded on the Forrestal. I'll have to search it out on the link you provided.

The Forrestal was back in Norfolk in the early 70's. The fire made her look the worse for the wear. It sure looked different for an aircraft carrier. My ship left for nam in late 72.
