Obviously, I'm new to the group...here goes...
I own and operate a small milling operation in the Northwest Territories. Currently, I'm on the lookout for a tractor that will be capable for my needs; hauling up to 36" logs up to 20' long, and have the power to hoist with boom and forks. I intend to get a track kit for said tractor, however, I'm limited in choice with the track kit company. Reason is, I don't want to shred up the forest floor too much...and some of the country I operate in is wet. I've never really run tractors too much, but do operate heavy equip. on the job. I've been looking at the NH boomer units, or the case farmall straddle machines...As i had mentioned,i do intend to skid a lot of fair size logs...and require a good utility machine that can handle the abuse of rough terrain in hard country. Thoughts? All replies welcome....thanks.
