You have a good point, one to consider. In my case both the JD and the Kubota dealers are a mile apart in my town and BOTH have very good reps.
Thanks
~Steve

This comes down to your personal preference, since you are choosing between two excellent machines. Have the JD guy get an eHydro unit setup, and be sure to have the Kub guy give you the full demo of how the new Kub HST works also. Find out if they would bring their respective toys out to your place for a test run.

Then have fun deciding what floats your boat. Best of luck!

I looked at a JD4720 a while ago. I think that unit was going to be maxed out picking up at ton. I was looking for FEL lift of about 2500lb, and it wasn't going to do it. Check lift capacity. A pallet of pellets(say that 10 times) is at least a ton, or more?

The lift capacity of the JD 4x20 series tractors with the 400CX loader is 2194 lbs, per the online brochure at the JD web site. You will need ballast - I tried to operate my 4720/400CX with just an implement (~500#) on the 3ph, and it was not very stable. I ended up loading the rears with beet juice (~1100#), and now I'm very happy :)

I drove both JD and Kubota machines, and I agree with the other posts - both are very nice machines, and it's a matter of personal preference and comfort with the dealership. My decision was based on the dealership.
