I use the handle Yoopertom, my name is Tom. I am originally from the Upper Penninsula of Michigan and consider that my true home. In the U.P. we got the name Yooper as a derivative of UP'er, or and Upper Peninsula resident. Kind of a northern hillbilly. However, we got back at the people from the Lower Peninsula, we call them Tolls, because they live under the bridge.

I've lived in Arkansas for 25 years now, and tell people I know how to spell ya'll but can't pronounce it right. I'm married to a wonderful woman from Arkansas, second marriage for both, and we live in a log cabin on 10 acres of woods and lawn. I am within a year of retiring, I am 68 years old. My wife, Terry, is retired and works hard keeping her flower gardens and outdoor area nice and hospitable. We have several small gardens and are learning the art of raising food. I'll say it is quite a bit more expensive than store bought, but it sure tastes a whole lot better too.

A few years ago I bought a TL 1900 from my wife's step-father. I don't claim him as he is a jerk. But regardless I bought the tractor. It only has 120 hours on it, but it looks like its been used roughly. The man I bought it from has now concept of maintenance and frankly I have not paid it much attention. However, I have reduced my work hours to 30 and with the accumulated leave time I have I have a lot of four day weekends which allow me to get into some projects.

We recently had a large patio and a large slab of concrete poured and I need to do some dirt work. The tractor has been a gem. I've used it to pull shrubs, push downed logs, disc a garden. I bought a landscape rake and it has been real handy in tearing out an overgrown blackberry patch. The more I use it the more uses I find. Recently I found some fuel, and stupidly put it in the tractor. I was running the tractor scrapping gravel in the new driveway when it just up and quit. I immediately though of fuel and didn't try anything else.

By the way, while I am not an accomplished mechanic I know about engines and transmissions and such like. I worked for J I Case for 15 years and was the manager of their large tractor assembly lines in Racine, WI. I also was the VP of Mfg. for Gilson Bros in Plymouth, WI and we made Ford lawn and garden equipment. So I'm familiar but did not personally work on the equipment.

So now I am working my way through draining the fuel tank, changing the fuel filter, and starting to prime the system after I install a new fuel filter. Any advice is surely appreciated and I look forward to participating in this forum as I have also purchased an old Case garden tractor that is hydraulically driven. Engine oil is the hydraulic oil. I think the model is Case 482 but can't remember and the tractor is out by the shop. It is a project in retirement.

Good to join this forum I've already received some significant help just today.
