That’s my area, I’m right between Ottawa and Montreal. So happy to move from Quebec to Ontario! After my entire life in Quebec I don’t have to have French shoved down my throat any more. Except when I deal with the government for my business because that’s still in Quebec.
Rant over.

And another welcome from the neighbor, (Quebec), the province with poorer roads,
Yes, when we cross over to Ontario our cars suddenly run much smoother.

I guess you’re going to have to learn a little French before the wedding :drink:
All kidding aside the québécois are a kind friendly generous kind of people. They’re just brainwashed by the education system and government to think their language and culture is threatened so some of the language laws are pretty ridiculous. If you were to move to Quebec you would by law not be allowed to send your children to English school....only French! If you own a business in Quebec any signage you have on your place of business the French writing needs to be twice as big as the English. This is the law and it’s enforced by the language police. This is just a couple of examples of the crap an English person living in Quebec has to deal with.

My daughter-in-law to be is Gatenu French . I can only understand about 1 in 20 words in a conversation with her family.

LOL, don't feel bad.
As a sales rep I travelled all of Quebec and Beauce french and Lac St Jean french would make a Parisian cringe.
Shucks some parts of New Brunswick still don't know if they are French or English to hear them speak.

Next try pure Cajon french or Ozark English.
While I am close to being thoroughly bilingual I never understood even one word spoken by a true Cajon.
Shucks Parisian french is hard as well.

I am also bilingual even though my written French is pretty poor but so is most of the québécois’s written French.
Here in Eastern Ontario (my new home) I speak franglais
