Hello to All,
I found this site due to the fact that I was looking to replace my 34 year old JD model 212 lawn tractor with something a little more up to date. I have been looking at the NH Boomer 25, but it appears there are some pto and battery problems with that tractor. I am close to retirement and I have two acres which I split between lawn and garden. I do have a rototiller for my JD212 and a mower deck. To be frank, the rototiller is getting to be a real chore to put on and the mower deck after 34 years has seen better days. As I mentioned, I was looking at the Boomer 25 with the front bucket, belly mower and a rototiller. I think I had a ballpark figure of 21 or 22K for all this. I'm not opposed to buying used, it's just that I'm not up on my models to know what model would be sufficient for what I'd like to do.
I did look at the compact JD 2012 models, but that puts me into the 23k range.
The only thing I don't like about JD is if you drop a 1/4-20 bolt somewhere, you just don't ride down to your local Ace Hardware to replace it. JD always has a different thread pitch or something that requires going to a JD dealer.
I'm sure that bolt would be $5 too. They should give the tractors away for free as they're surely going to make their money back in replacement parts and repairs.
So hopefully, I can glean some good information from you folks as to some suggestions on what to look at. I'm not in a hurry to part with my funds, but I will have to do something in the next year or two.
Regards,
Rick
