Hello. I live in the southern most part of WV on the VA border. About to purchase a small tractor for about 5 acres and have gotten tons of great ideas from the forum. Thanks

Southern most part? I've been married the last 53 years to a gal from Princeton. So we've made a few trips to your area.

Have everything written up at the dealer. Our realtor advised us not to make any large purchases until we close on our house which hopefully will Be next week. Said banks don’t like to see ppl spending large amounts of $$ before signing papers.

That’s where we live now. Actually Bluefield WV is our address but we’re closer to Princeton. Making the long journey to Bluefield VA hopefully next week when we close on our house lol. Whole 15 min away.

I can’t wait. Have been wearing dealer out asking about implements. I’m sure they are sick of me. Newest obsession is the grapple. I grew up on a 200acre Farm and can only imagine all the work a grapple would have saved us. And would save me now on my 5 acres.

Yes, they are funny that way.

My daughter found out the hard way about that. She blew the engine in her car, for the fourth time, before closing and bought two new cars to replace it. So, they stopped the closing and made her go through the whole process all over again. Took four more months to close.

She said later that, she wished that she had just ask me to loan her a car until after she had closed. She learned a big lesson the hard way.

Thanks you. 20 years ago they probably didn’t have a tourist brochure lol. WV has come a long way. We have some of the best atv trails in the country now IMO and are slowly becoming more economically diverse. It’s an absolutely beautiful state. I always look forward to coming “Home” anytime I’m away for awhile.

Welcome to TBN. Have done a whole lot of hiking, backbacking, fossil-hunting, and flyfishing for trout in WV. You're lucky to live there. :)

Maybe I'll just cut loose and head up there one day. I have a friend from somewhere up there. She says her grandfather was raised by Devil Anse Hatfield. That gives her status in my book.

That's interesting. My wife's oldest brother was an assistant principle and general science teacher in Bluefield for many years, lived in what I guess is the eastern edge of Bluefield, almost in Princeton, raised one son and two daughters there. He died in 2009, but his wife still lives in the same house they lived in the first time I visited West Virginia in 1967. I met my wife in Dallas and we'd been married 2 years before we made our first trip to West Virginia and I got to meet the rest of her family.

And I still think Pipestem State Park is the best state park I know of. We've been there many times, including before it was built. But August, 2014, was the last time we were in West Virginia.

We are fortunate to have Pipestem as well as Bluestone state parks so close. I grew up in Summers county so we spent a lot of time at both parks and on the lake. It’s a shame lack of good jobs has seen a real decline in the area which is very rich in natural beauty.
