I have a 91 JD2155 so I think this should apply.. On the sides of the tractor up towards the front are side screens that allow air to the radiator, but keep out major dust. lift the lever located in the center of the screen & then the screen will loosen and then you can left them off. Same on both sides. Behind those & up towards the front of the hood you will see 2 rubber straps that sit in metal "cups" undo those & you can then lift up the hood from the front. I had to stand on the cross bar of the FEL. and it helps to open the side panels below the dash that get you access to the battery, so they are out of the way.
To close it, the hood sits in "u" shaped hooks back by the dash up top, plus side channels (by the battery doors) that are curved and there is a gas type piston in the center up top next to the fuel fill hole. If your hood is bent & dented up like mine, don't open the hood as it took me & my wife, about a half hour to get all the hooks, pins, slots, to align just right to get the hood to close correctly. I only opened it to add coolant, & hope to never open it again, next time it is low, I may trade it in, it's that much of a pain in the a**.
I hope this helps, if you have any further questions I can try to take pics for you, just shoot me a message.
