John, glad your getting some progress. From your setup, it seems you are doing this by yourself? Id suggest your loosing some of the force being applied as springback of your drift. Too bad you couldnt find a brave soul to hold the VG  And your VG might be getting wedged there between the rock and the cyl. Its hard to see any clearance in the pic.

Also, can you get a good swing on the pin? Lovetaps even with a big hammer might not do it. Your certainly on the right track though.

Jason,

One out!!

After reading your suggestion about getting a good swing at it --I starting thinking that wasn稚
possible so I went and bought a fork(pic) started whacking that and the tab started to break off with the tab off I used the grinder to get that round appearance.
With the vise grip holding the punch in one hand and the other with my smaller heavy hammer in the other I started whaling on it stopping to spray with penetrating fluid then whacking it back and forth When it got past the frame it was all over.
I guess the fork really loosen it up so breaking the tab I was able to work at ease from the front of the BH.
First picture old pin with new
Second Picture--fork I pick up for $20.00 well worth it
One more to go.
Thanks for your help.
John

John, Glad your getting it:thumbsup: Pretty satisfying feeling isnt it?:D

Now imagine doing that a few times a week on 2"+ pins ;)

Keep at it. Lube your new pin before putting it in, and watch that your bores are lined up. Dont want any burrs on the pin or the bore.

Ahh, yes, the old ball joint (pickle fork) removal tool strikes again!
Good idea to try that, they can put a lot of wedge pressure on a joint like that..

Jason,

I can not imagine doing this on 2 inch pins or any other pin on a daily basis.
I was beating down for the first few days not getting anywhere, but your right what a feeling when it came out.

Going to work on second one today.
Thanks for the bore tip and walking me through this.
Is there some method of prepping the bore?

Your welcome. glad to help.

On cleaning, not really anything special. Just rags and degreaser like brake klean or even something like diesel.. Clean out all the dirt and grease you can, it doesn't need to be operating room clean or anything. Carefully run your finger in the bore and check for burrs especially considering the difficulty you had removing the pin. File (or sand) down any burrs you may find. On some larger machines there is usually a wear bushing in there made from brass or similar that needs to be checked or changed if the pin wasnt greased, but your machine shouldnt have that. Make sure any shims that may have been there are returned to their proper place.
