I have a switch/meter panel like the red one in your post in my small aluminum fishing boat.

I found an old 8" x 8" square aluminum cake pan in a re-sale store for 50 cents.

Used a nibbler and cut out a hole in the bottom of the caked pan to fit the panel, turned it over, and mounted the panel. Works great, hides the wires, and is aluminum just like the boat. Could be painted any color if desired.



You could get any piece of aluminum or steel sheet and cut out any size hole you want to fit any panel. You could also bend the sheet to make any shape you want. I just went with the cake pan, because it was a good fit and provided space for the wires in the rear.
