help..ford backhoe cylinder

i removed the lower front bucket cylinder from my 555d backhoe and it has a wire holding the end cap on. i replaced the seals in the cylinder and put the endcap backbut i cant figure out how to get the wire back in thks

There is a hook on one end of the wire. Engage it into the shallow hole in the gland, then rotate the gland with a pipewrench or similar to 'roll' the wire into the barrel. It helps to bend the wire towards the barrel in the shape the wire will be formed to ease the process.
