It's a few hours later and I used the L3000 to spread a couple of yards of mulch in the landscape beds around the house. What took me a couple of days with a shovel and cart I did in 90 minutes with the FEL!

The L3000 sure has some power and is nice, shifting from forward to reverse was a pain, I can see where a hydro would be nice.

I did leave a few "dents" in the front yard due to the wet ground, ag tires and weight of the 3000. Yep need to go smaller, more maneuverable and lighter weight.

I've only had my NH TC18 a little more than a week, so I'm hardly an expert. Worse, I didn't look at any other tractors other than New Holland - the dealer is so far above the others, there was never a doubt in my mind.

All I can tell you is that I got the TC18 with 4WD, Hydrostatic trans, 12LA FEL, 4' rear rotary cutter and 4' box blade for $14,800, so that fits your budget. The TC18, TC21 and TC24 all use the NH Class I Boomer frame which I think would fit your size requirments. Believe it or not, it was my dealer who told me that the 21 and the 24 are probably not worth the money unless you have a specific need for the extra horsepower. I have 20 hours on my little TC18 already, and have not come up with a single shortcoming. The loader lifts 750 pounds more than 7' high; the 3 PH lifts 1265# and pulls 4' implements without trouble; the steering radius is so tight it's like turning in a dime...you owe it to yourself to try this one out before making a decision.

Setting with alittle over 2 acres. Steep hills to climb, no pond though /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. I cut the side of a bridge very steep angle and very happy with the 28hp and the HST tranny.

Since dealers are close get them to bring equipment out to your property to try. My dealer did.

Update - Went to the JD dealer grand opening today. They were packed! Talked to a factory rep and a salesman. Drove a 790 and 4000 and played with the loader on the 4000, looked at the 2210.

The salesman was steering me toward the 2210 with my 4 acres. 2210 with a 210 loader and JD 261 5' rear finish mower was $13,700. I am still thinking this is too small and want something a little bigger to go over the rougher areas of my property easier.

The factory rep was pointing me toward the 4000 series. Last years model 4000 with 410 loader and JD 261 5' rear finish mower & R4 tires was $16,550, this years model 4010 about $100 more and a Landpride 5' rear finish mower instead of the JD $500 less.

These prices seem a little high to me what do ya'll think? They seem like full list.

Also got a chance to see a Kubota 7500, 7800 and 2710 although the dealer was closed and the 7500 and 7800 were behind a fence I got to sit on the 2710 at least.

The 7500 looks close to the JD 4000/4010? The ergonomics on the JD seemed to have the Kubota beat in my opinion. I am pretty well decided on a hydro no matter which “color” I go, something I hadn’t thought of are my teenage cousins who love to cut my grass a hydro would be easier for them to use, while I sit back, drink a beer and watch /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif.

Opinions requested from owners of these models and other experts please........

In reference to the prior post regarding JD dealer pricing:

I finally saw the FEL and cutter pricing area on the JD website, adding it up and the dealer is pricing the package about $500 OVER the suggested list price. They think that highly of their tractors?

Went to the local Kubota today!

Sales manager wanted to put me on a BX2200 at first, but I want something bigger. Sales manager was great explained the differences from the 2200 up to the 2910 and gave me prices on all listed below. These prices seem good, especially in comparison to the full list the JD dealer wanted.

That was definitely the case in my area, but apparently it can be the other way around in some parts of the country.

In my area orange was the most expensive with John Deere within a few hundred dollars. But New Holland was around a Grand less. Again that is just this area or it even could have been just a dealer that wanted to move a few tractors or so.

bobobro maybe if your set on orange which it seems like you are you could post your quotes in the orange section and get some ideas from the experts on the Kubota. It is a good tractor and if you feel good about it along with the dealer then my recomendations is to go orange.
