just looking in an old manual i have for the L models and it states as follows:
the clutch is properly adjusted when there is a .025" gap between the coils of the clutch springs,if excessive slippage occurs,decrease the gap to .020".
that is how it is written in the manual,i tried it with no success.the torque wrench method i think would be preferred to check the force needed before it slips.my buddy found out the hard way with his snow thrower,the clutch was too tight and it broke the output shaft on the snow thrower rendering it useless now.i think i am going to invest in the torque wrench set up myself so i can get it right without worry.i would sure love to lay my hands on a true factory service manual for these machines ,,,,,,,,,,,
