Hi All
I need to get my injector pump off my KE 75 diesel engine as its not working and I'm having a problem getting it off.
I un did injector pipes and removed the 4 bolts holding down the injector pump, I lined up the rack with the housing slot and pump should just lift out ???? but no it is stuck I can only get it about 15mm lift . I can rotate it 180 deg with abit of fiddling and turning the control arm back and forward but it is catching on something.
I would really appreciate some feed back as to if you have removed one of these injector pumps as to where I am going wrong.
I have read and been told by a mechanic there is a plate on the side that when removed enables you to disconnect throttle control arm but I can not see such a plate and I have looked very closely , I had a look at my neighbours 3 cylinder mitiubishi tractor and I can clearly see such a side plate but not on mine KE75
There must be a lot of you guys that know how to remove my injector pump and I would really appreciate some help as it is doing my head in.

Hi Ken, you probably didn't see my other reply, but I've just done one and it just lifts out. I'm parting out my tx1300 engine now. I'll have a close look this afternoon and see if there is anything out could get caught on. Dan

Ken,

I had a look at mine, the throttle linkage isn't a pinned connection, it should just lift out.

However, if your throttle is fully closed (maybe fully open, not sure!) the throttle pin could jam under the lip of the timing case, stopping it coming out.

Facing the pump from the side, tilting it up and towards the left, should aid it coming out. Open and close the throttle linkage a few times while you do it. You also might have try barring over the engine a little in case the lifters are jamming the throttle pin against the timing case, stopping it coming out.

I am starting to wonder is my control rack on the injector pump is seized in the off position the injector pump was completely dead not a ml of diesel moved when cranking engine over. Although the control arm on the outside seemed to go back and forward ok.
The engine is on a mulcher and the previous owner left it standing outside in the weather for a few years. so the injector pump maybe frozen in the off position if this is the case can you see on yours if this would be the reason the pump is court.
I really appropriate your help as these engines are not that common in NZ so not much help here.

Ah , A little bit of info that would have helped earlier.
If the control rack is frozen in the off position then
it will not clear the timing cover were pump bolts on.
Check this picture. the governor lever is just to
the left in the opening. It would be under the top
left bolt hole around the opening if left in the off or closed
position and would not clear the case.

If it is rusted and stuck then maybe you could pull pump
up as far as you can and spray penetrating oil on the
control rack area of pump body. Check picture below
if you were careful you could loosen the delivery valve
holder and spray penetrating oil in that area which
looks like it could work its way down to the control
pinion or anything in there that might be frozen.
Don't worry about any penetrating oil getting
into the crankcase, you are going to change the engine
oil anyway if you get it running.

Thanks for you help.
Looking at the photo you sent the governor arm is the only thing that has contact with the injector pump fiscally to control injector pump!!!!
The throttle control arm on the outside of engine is not connected in any way to the injector pump directly it only is it connected via the governor below the injector cam lobs . Hence if my thinking is correct after the 4 bolt holding down the injector pump to the engine are removed one just needs to align injector control rack at the back of injector pump with the checked out piece I can see there and lift injector pump out. nothing else needs disconnecting.
can you confirm are you able to move the control rack freely should i be able to move it with a screw driver pushing it backwards and forwards manually
I will spray penetrating oil all over injector pump leave for a week and see???

Yep, sounds like you need to go crazy with the penetrating oil. It seems a surprising place to affected by weather though. I think it must be the fuel rack arm on the pump itself that is seized, otherwise i reckon you would still be able to wriggle it out of there.

Question, When you remove the 4 bolts does the pump
stay on top of the front engine cover as if it was still bolted
down or does it lift up as you remove the bolts?
If one of the two cam lobes to run the injection pump
is up it might make things tight to disengage the governor
lever. You might have a good idea to try to push the
control rack to the center and then remove. And yes
you should be able to move the control rack by hand.
Also, if a cam lobe is in the up position try turning
engine by hand until pump sits on the front cover.

Good news its out.
The control rack was is frozen and worked out it was only a few ml off where it needed to be so thanks to all your guys info that nothing else was connected, So a pry bar on either side and one eye closed for luck and it was like pulling a tooth it pop right out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!yay
But it is seized one of the plungers is stuck up in compression and I have managed to get the control rack to move stiffly back and forwards but I,m guessing the pump is stuffed and not rebuild able .
So now I will pull the head of to see if there is any future there I only need it to go to drive a mulcher for home use but I'm still considering in the back of my mind another used motor could be cheaper and better outcome.
Thanks for all your help
