Help! Hydro transmission on 1520 quit working.

I'm posting for a friend. His 1992 Ford 1520 with 1,800hrs quit working today. We checked the linkages and everything is in order. The tractor starts and runs but it will not move in forward or reverse. The tractor worked fine two days ago to bush hog. Any ideas before it goes to the dealer?

Does the tractor have a clutch? Is the PTO working? I think a TBN member "DOC HEB" had a lock ring come off an input shaft to the transmission and that allowed the shaft to move forward and unmesh the gear. He just used his brand new tractor for a few minutes and it quit working like you described your friend's tractor. There are lots of things it could be, but all I can think of would require a trip into the dealer one way or the other.

I beleive that tractor has a torsional dampner plate bolted to the flywheel. Most likely he sheared the rivits(sp) holding center hub to mounting plate. See it the PTO shaft turns while trying to drive tractor.

This tractor is used in a stump grinding business. My friend uses the tractor mainly to pull a 2,700 pound stump grinder to the job site. In my opinion the weight of the stump grinder is too much weight for a 1520 hydro to pull. I'm going to let him use my TC 30 gear drive for two days until the local dealer can diagnose the problem.

Just got a call from David and he said he got a call from the dealer. He said a linkage bolt came loose (he never saw it). He is going to pick up the tractor in the morning.
