G'day guys.

Since my parents bought the family farm in 1986 (vineyard) we have had an old ford tractor. I believe it to be a 3000/2000 from 1965-75.

Mum has since upgraded to a new tractor and just yesterday gave me the old ford which I'm stoked about. Fired up no worries after sitting for 12 months. I intend to take it back to my place and then slowly restore it in between using it for the bigger jobs which my Iseki 2160f cant handle.

I have been looking here:
http://www.springfieldbiz.com/oaktree/rhcodes_serial.html
http://www.springfieldbiz.com/oaktree/sn.html

to try and id the tractor but the numbers don't quite add up.

On the right side of the engine where the important numbers are (as in the 2nd link above) I have the following:
Model 6-F-21-B
Prodution 7A18
Serial Number B062139

The model code I have has me totally stumped as it is nothing like the ones above. It seems from the Serial Number the tractor is made in England so maybe they used different model codes?

The production number is also 1 digit short but once again maybe the English didn't list what shift is was produced on, other wise it comes up with Jan 18 1967.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Perhaps a picture of the numbers would help?

I'm located 600km away unfortunately.
They are exactly as stated above with the dashes between the number/letters on the first line.

That's a bummer, I know mine is 300 miles from me right now too...

I think 6-F-21-B is the production code, not the model number. That production code is June 21 1966 on the day shift. The model number should be above that production code number.

B062139 sounds like a serial number, a tractor built in England.

I don't know what 7A18 is except the "7" could be a "2" and the "A" could be a "4". There might be more there also. Try cleaning the area real good and then put a piece of paper over the numbers and rub it with a pencil to see if anything else stands out. If the production code is right, your tractor was built in 1966 when they were still using numbers to start the model id. If the 7 is a 2, then you have a 2000.

Good luck!
Chris

Cheers, I'm pretty sure the 6-F-21-B was the upper most number, but what you say about that being the production number makes sense.
No idea when I'm going to head down and pick it up (it's a 3000km round trip) and finding a trailer that I can hire with a gross of 2500kg is proving harder than I thought.

That's too bad about the trailer. Trailers with up to 7500 lb ratings to rent are like flies here in the States. Bigger ones can be had with little effort.

it's a basildon england model.

check the OTHER side of the trans bellhousing for the model ID number. I have seen numbers stamped over there as well.

I have also seen poorly stamped model id number int he rough part of the cast WELL BACK from the bellhousing flat where it normally would be.

also check under the hood for a foil tag with duplicate info

G'day guys, picked the tractor up a couple of days ago and scoured the LH side of the engine/trans for more numbers but no luck at all.

Soundguy, do you have a pic of the exact area you have previously found numbers.

on a 3 cyl.. the numbers are USUALLY on the FLAT TOP side/pad of (clutch) trans bellhousing aft of the starter. on BRIT versions.. MANY TIMES there are numbers on the opposite side too. IE.. just ahead of the steering box..

if you are looking onthe side of the engine and trans you are looking inthe wrong place.

also.. i believe the starter is on the RH side on a 65+

Did you look under the hood/battery cover?? On my grape harvester powered by a Ford 3000, there was a sticker on the hood that had numbers to ID it. The S-O-S also had numbers stamped on the right side on the flats. And yes, the starter is on the right side...I think the 3 cylinders are right while the 4 cylinders (4000) are on the left.
