HELP IDENTIFYING THESE TOOLS

I have a set from drafting classes.
I do not think they have much value. Everyone in the class had a set in the 50's.
If I remember correctly that set of tools is one of reasons I decided that being a draftsman was not the occupation that I wanted to do for the rest of my life. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Wow. Those bring back memories. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I started off as a drafter using those about 40 years ago. Used those when we all sat at tables drawing with pencil and/or ink on paper. Still have my set somewhere. Drafting was a true profession at one time. Now it is hard to find a true drafter. Everything on computers now. Don't really have a good guess as far a value. I see them occadionally at flea markets but never really paid much attention to the price.

My Dad was an engineer, and he had a set of those tools that he gave to me when I was in High School when I had aspirations of becoming an architect. The brand that we had was Keuffel & Esser (I think that's the correct spelling /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif). K&E were supposed to be some of the better quality drafting tools around. But I couldn't really tell you what their worth might be.

Why don't give you give a call or stop by your local Technical College and talk with one of the drafting teachers? They'd probably have similar sets that you could compare yours to, and maybe even have an idea of their worth. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We used to use drafting tools for sheet metal layout school. I actually used them more when I attended the classes than I did out in the real world of banging sheet metal together though. I still have my old set.

The Leroy set was a lettering tool used for creating uniform inked lettering on vellum or mylar drawing media. A scriber, letter templates, ink cups and a straight-edge were part of the set.

I intend to sell them on e bay once i get an idea of their worth, i know it can;t be much, but what the heck , the wife only paid $3 for them /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
