Re: Help, I\'m lost in a sea of table saws!!

I bought a JET contractor's saw in the Fall for $550. Very happy with it. Pretty much even draw with the delta as far as features go, but the jet was $50 cheaper.

I do keep hearing good things about the Ryobi that JMIII mentioned.

I've got the Delta you mention. I looked at a jet after my purchase and I agree with your assement. Mine was in the $550 neighborhood but it's been a few years and my memory sucks. Good saw. Stay away from the economy Delta direct drive model; doesn't have near the power the belt drive saw does.

Here is how I chose my table saw. The saw is good but the fence sucks.

Re: Help, I\'m lost in a sea of table saws!!

That's how I got this. It was on clearnace at Lowe's marked down from $299 to $164.....just couldn't pass it up. I keep going back to see if they have a table saw at a similar mark down but so far no luck. From what I've been reading, the fence problem is pretty typical......buy a saw and then purchase and expensive aftermarket fence that's useful. Oh well, I guess I'll head by Home Despot today and see if they have the Rigid and the Ryobi.

Re: Help, I\'m lost in a sea of table saws!!

Thanks for all the help. I ended up getting the Ryobi, an accessory pack and a Rigid work stand that uses a slip surface instead of rollers. I liked that becuase I could also slide wood sideways on it when using the table saw to cut longer pieces of wood. The Rigid saws looked good too but I kept getting the feeling that they were really more saw than I needed as well as being above the higher limit of what I wanted to spend. In addition, the Rigid saws seemed to be Ala Carte so the final price would have likely been much higher than the cost of the saw alone. For the Ryobi I came in at just over $400.00 for everything including the work support. Now it's been tough, but for once I was able to reign in my need to buy bigger (just in case). Hopefully I won't be disappointed. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
