pat32rf said:Every fall when the cold (30-45degF)damp weather hits I have trouble with my 4300 not starting . It has always been because of an open circuit in the thermyster for the fuel solenoid( 4yrs in a row). This 57cent unit allows full voltage to the solenoid to pull it in but drops the voltage after a few seconds so it has just enough voltage to hold it in. The little critter is somewhere behind the fuse panel and once the tractor starts and warms up evrything is OK until the next cold start. To do the initial start however I must remove the side panel to get at the three wires to the solenoid, then short the white wire to ground while hitting the key. It always starts instantly when I do this.
I have had the dealer change the thermyster then the problem goes away(even at 0degF) for the next year.Below 10degF I normally plug in the heater.
Thermistor...been there done that...easy $3.00 + fix
