My tank already has a manual rotary pump and a good inline filter. It’s almost finished.

Here’s my solution. Know it’s very basic but it solves my problem. I filled it with almost 40 gallons as it was secured in my truck bed and easily unloaded it with the grapple quickly with no help. Thanks for everyone’s ideas. IMG_4633.JPG

Thanks for all of the ideas. I am building a simple steel base out of angle iron and square tubing, with eye bolts at each corner, with 6’ straps criss crossing, and a big steel loop in the center to hook over the grapple tooth. I’ll post pictures in the next few days when I’m finished. I think it will work fine and be quick and easy.
The 36 gal. tank is what I have but my problem is my hand pump is on the very end and is tall and it makes the tank much heavier on that end. I cannot make it balance and I am afraid that it is going to hit my glass filter in the line of the pump. I do have wooden boards attached underneath but don't know if I hooks in those would hold it or not.

It looks like there might be a possibility that this set up allows the tank to tilt towards the heavy end. using four straps or chains would prevent that.

Nice job! I would consider using each strap to go back to the same end, instead of from end to end. Use two different teeth of the grapple to hold each strap. Might give you a little more control and prevent the slosh from allowing the tank to slip or the straps to slip on the tooth, and upending one end?

Here is the math.
Diesel weighs 7.1 lbs per gallon. x 36 = 255.6
the tank is 80 to 100 lbs depending on the manufacturer
256+100=356 lbs total weight.
that means that each of those tabs would need to carry roughly 178 lbs in order to lift the tank

Product liability is something that companies take seriously and they do a lot of CYA (like telling you not to lift a full tank).
based on my experience you would need a few thousand pounds to tear one of those welds out or to break those loops pulling straight up.
a chain hooked over your grapple so that the spread is wide enough to lift near straight over the loops should work very well. You want to avoid pulling at a severe angle to the tabs as that will compromise their lifting capability somewhat, but 356 lbs is literally the weight of a large man. that is not tearing out welded loops. You really only need to lift it a few inches anyway. Fill it, lift it in the bed about 2 inches and inspect the loops see if there is any paint cracking or or other signs of stress then if you want drive the truck out from under it and lower it to a few inches above the deck. That way even if a loop were to break the fall would be minimal and the other loop will still be attached keeping the tank from tipping over (if you wrap the chain on the grapple so it doesn't slip). You can do that until you are comfortable that the setup will work and the loops are holding. Have fun and good luck!
