Help me understand Third Function Remote please

Everything Attachments is a little cheaper for the kit and they offer free shipping within 1000miles. I just put one on my B3200 and it was easy.

Not sure if the rock hound uses a hyd motor or not. I would want to go with 1 solution that would be suitable for both. So if I used the parts from Belieynet, I would also need the hoses to reach to the FEL which I would guess would be about $100 for those. I would not be sure how to hook this up though. I'm not too savvy with this right now, so I am asking allot of questions.

Here is what I see on my tractor and please forgive me, I am novice on how hydraulics work but do want to learn.

This is a picture of the FEL hoses connection. This is where the FEL connects to hoses which those hoses connect to a junction block.

This picture is the other end of those hoses from the first picture. It just looks like another junction block. You can see the gray steel lines on the other side of that junction that go underneath of the tractor.

Where does the third function splice into this? Yes, I'm confused on all the lines.

If you buy a kit for your model tractor, it will have instructions. They will tell you which line to remove to connect the third function valve lines. Mine is a smaller tractor and the valve is somewhat different but I think they all probably use the same theory. I had to remove a pipe that went from the valve to the tank. There were two hoses that went into the two open holes that were left. It was pretty simple really.

I believe that for your situation, you are best off getting the OEM system. Forget about trying to save $50-$100, get the system that is supplied by Kubota for your tractor. ;)

Is power beyond not an option and more robust?

If the Rock Hound has a hyd driven motor with a lot of centrifugal force, then you need a motor spool valve, whether it is a lever or solenoid valve.

A motor spool valve should not be used with a cyl circuit.

So in essence, you really need two valves.

One type valve that will lock a cyl in neutral, and another valve that will let the hyd motor wind down as it is acting like a pump when you release the valve.

You could get by with a two spool valve with one spool a cyl spool and the other spool a motor spool.

It also has to do with the money you want to spend.

The basic 3rd function kit is about $400 and a two valve 3rd kit might go from $500 to 800.

Can you do all the work yourself?

To install a 3rd kit, you simply interrupt the PB from the FEL valve at the hyd blk and add the 3rd kit in series with the flow path.

Your manual will show you the ports on the hyd blk.

If it's anything like my L3200, you will intercept the power-beyond line coming off the loader (that currently runs to the 3-pt). Supply the rear remotes with that. And then the power-beyond port on the remotes routes back to the 3-pt. If you have a backhoe, it's already in that position in the power-beyond loop, so it's just a matter of inserting the rear remotes after the backhoe and before the 3-pt.

I'd say get the Kubota kit if you want pretty lever integration. Otherwise, it's not that hard to figure out and you'd save $$ with off the shelf valves and parts. Plan to spend some time figuring hose requirements and lengths, fittings, etc. The Kubota kit takes care of that stuff as well, but is not without some glitches you'll need to deal with.
