Help me with the right size trailer!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, experience and advice. After a day of driving around and looking at trailers I decided to hold off and rethink my situation. I am not one to constantly be buying and selling. I want a trailer that will meety needs now and my needs in the future and my biggest set back was my truck. Therefore I went out and bought a new 2014 dodge drw 3500 with the 6.7 Cummins. My gooseneck is getting put in on Tuesday and then I will continue my pursuit of a trailer.

I went buy hudson Bros trailers today to pick up my trailer and they had two 30ft flat goose necks going out and man what a haus of a trailer I've never seen such a well built trailer and I've used big names like pj and tex don't compare.

Depends on what you spec out for a trailer. The lot stock trailers are the cheapest made to get the lowest price, start adding options and upgrading the frame size or better yet, add an air suspension and you quickly get a very good trailer with the price tag to match. All I'm saying is make sure you compare apples to apples.

I never buy stock trailers always special order mine through local dealer mainly went with pj but had some issues lately with them and switched to Hudson trailers, have to say ill never switch now.

Fair enough. If you know enough to custom order it then you should be good to go. I know when I was looking at GN's the places that touted their prices were the bottom of the barrel models. Appalachian trailers comes to mind as a good example. They used channel frames on their models when I looked at them and that was a dead giveaway they were cheap and so did the weight vs the bigger names. The pictures that you posted of the Hudson trailers didn't blow me away so I was just throwing in for my 2 cents.

Oh yeah app trailers there owned by kaufman trailers and I don't want to get on kaufman that would be a big rant.

Understood! You might laugh at me, but I had a spreadsheet comparing every spec published by the manufacturers! I ended up buying a Moritz that's in my signature. I should have went bigger since I have outgrown it, but it was more than enough for my one ton at the time! Wiring harnesses are another trailer sore spot with me. Why do ppl cheap out of them? They fail at the worst times!

As requested here are the pics of my new truck. These were taking yesterday as I was helping some friends move equipment off of their property they just sold. The 6.7 Cummins Diesel engine is a powerhouse! The motor growled as I gained speed on the highway but once I met my crusing speed the rpm dropped to about 1600 and maintained it self up hills very well. The old 6.0 Vortec is a decent motor but does not come near the power as this new motor.Currently going by the computer on the truck I am getting 16 MPG unloaded and was getting 10 MPG while loaded. I will be putting my first tank of fuel in it tomorrow and will do the hand calcs for an avg for the tank.
