not sure if I should post this here or with a new thread, but will give this a try first......

I found with my original problem that I've been able to get along well enough with the broken spool.....I often need to rotate the ram a bit for it to come out but can make it work.......

my question now may be related because the solution might require replacing or changing what I have......

I bought a small backhoe attachment, I think it's a case d100 with 3 point (I'm told they were intended for skid loaders but this one has been modified to take a top link), and would like to learn the best way to setup the hydraulic connections. It appears that I need direct connections to the hydraulic system rather than thru the existing spool system - is that correct? What would be the best setup/solution to be able to have connections for both attachments? Is there another port I should use to access hydraulic pressure somewhere on my tractor? Considering that the spool I have needs work should I modify it somehow to serve both implements?

I've attached a picture of the backhoe for reference.....any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks....
bryan

i'm thinking you may want a pto pump for that unit.. it will need alot of flow. your oem spool on the hyd top cover is 4gpm MAX.

while you are at it.. repair that spool or repalce it so you have useable remote hyds.

Thanks for the quick reply....I just haven't gotten around to a good repair for that spool but will take care of it soon. Can you recommend a specific model of pto pump for the backhoe....maybe one I might find used or at the low price range?

i'd look at the flow rate you will need for those cyl's ( check piston and ram size, then also get valving that will handle it. will also need a hyd sump.. sump size semi depends on pump flow rate.

I have the D100 BH on my Case 360 trencher. Mine has the two joysticks. The D100's were used on various equipment, and the flow was different for each. Probably around 10 to 20 GPM's is normal, however 5 to 10 GPM's would work, however slow. You may have to find a PTO pump that matches up to your tractor HP.

What is the HP of your tractor?

an 881 could reliably have a hair over 40 pto hp. depending on condition and gas/diesel /lpg engine.

my 881 is gas and compression is probably on the low end of perfect.....the specs in the manual I have says it's 36hp. If I were to get a pump in the 12gph range (I see one on craigslist) would that be all I need? I will use the backhoe rarely and am getting it primarily to help my son with a trench he needs to dig....so my need will be light and slow is OK because it will be my first time using one so will probably be going slow anyway. would you recommend a reservoir or just the pump for my intended use?

36 hp? maybee if you had a 134ci engine.. but you have a 172ci engine generating about 45-48 engine hp.. and a lil less at the pto.

I found a Prince PTO pump with a reservoir on craigslist today - the seller didn't know the flow rate and there isn't a model number on it but it was for a heavy duty sickle mower, and the reservoir has a 17 gallon capacity, so am hopeful that parallels the flow rate. The reservoir is big......where are they typically mounted? I will be using the backhoe rarely so would prefer to not mount it permanently to the tractor - any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated....will try to post a picture to show the relative size.......
