I have a BX23s with a RCK54 23BX mid u mower. The bearings are shot and I'm tryng to buy a gear box rebuild kit with all the bearings and seals needed for a routine bearing swap. I've found several that are close, but none are numbers correct. Can anyone point me to wear I can get this kit? I'd prefer not to buy piece by piece.

Well for sure Messicks can supply them. Compare prices before you buy. I strongly suspect they are the same bearings found in my RCK60-22BX mower which was on a BX2200. I bought a complete 3 bearing set (all 3 blade spindles) for around $100 on Amazon. [That was for bearings, seals and C-clips.] But are you saying the bearings are shot in the GEARBOX rather than the blade spindles? That is somewhat unusual. I have no experience replacing bearings in the gearbox (and don't know anyone who had the gearbox fail. Usually the blade spindle bearings are the ones to go first.) Please clarify a little and if it is blade spindle bearings I will go look up my order, etc.

The seals failed in the center spindle and then the bearing. I have watched several vids showing if you're replacing the center spindle bearing you should do the ger bearings while you're in there.

I can find the kit for the RCk60 23BX, curious if it's the same bearing set for the wider mower.

I do not claim great expertise but I say there is no reason to be replacing gearbox bearings when blade spindle bearings fail. "While you are in there" is not relevant since the 3 spindle bearings can be replaced without even removing the gearbox from the mower deck. If you lost the lube in the gear box (Did you?) then that is a whole different story.

yep, gear box is empty and will not hold fluid

Oh, OK. Then I agree. Do the gearbox too.

OBTW you can get lucky sometimes and find a good deck for sale by itself. I had that happen with a 60" deck on a B2150. I see there are a few RCK54 23BX decks for sale used. For example Wengers of Myerstown (PA) has one for $950. The deck itself has some rust issues but the spindles and gearbox might be good. I would trust Wengers on the condition of the bearings and you might get them down in price. Always nice to have a spare deck around for all sorts of parts.

Please go to Messicks spare parts drawings for RCK60 and RCK54 to check it out.

Yeah I went there and ordered each part one at a damn time... was hoping there was a maintenance package, I guess my ADD got the best of me. Still $200 for just the basic bearings and seals.
