Well... It doesn't have to be a towel per se . An old sheet (emphasis on OLD ), Paper towels , even newspaper will work . It's just a matter of keeping the solvent on long enough to work . I go through this process at least twice a year on my truck . The State of Pa loves to tar and chip the secondary roads where I live . It seems like they tend to put a lot more tar than chip into the mix /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif John

Since you put it that way, you need to wash it first, with some kind of detergent. If you have water there, use a portable power washer. If you don't have one, borrow or rent one. After you get down to the surface is when you start using that olé elbow grease. After bird poop has been there a while, it'll take something like buffing compound to get the shine back.

I have always used something called Tar & Bug Remover that I got a long time ago at an auto parts store. It does a good job, apparently without affecting the paint.

However, I have to admit I haven't tried it on owl poop yet. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Maybe try some Classic Coke, the bottled drink. It can do wonders on removing things.

I agree with Egon, I'd like to have an owl around.

Save those owl pellets, you may be able to pass them on to your local school. Our school district worked them into a science program. You'd be surprised, the kids loved dissecting them, (4th graders).

no matter how u do it , u might want to get it off as soon as possible, the longer it stays on , it might actually mark the paint.
