Does anyone know how to remove the knob on the TPH lowering speed control? This is on a B2620.It is the black knob that is between your feet if you are sitting on the tractor.I would like to remove the plastic trim piece to lube my loader control valve but this knob is preventing me from removing it.Any help would be appreciated.

On my BX, it is just friction fit. A lot of friction, but that's all.

That is what I was thinking but it doesn't seem to want to come off.I pulled on it with all my strength but it didn't move.It looks like there may be a set screw on the backside of it but it is hard to get a good look at it.I was hoping someone might know.

Try looking it up at Messicks, they auto-email parts diagrams

Thanks for the tip on Messick's,good for future reference.I downloaded the parts diagram but it doesn't show much, looks as if the knob just pushes on from what I can see.

If all else fails, try using the knob when you're out mowing deep grass. It will fall off for sure and you'll run over it with the mower.

I had to remove that knob recently and it is a bear. I used a pry bar up against the plastic body work with a piece of wood for protection and worked the knob from on side to the other. It was hard to believe that it was just a friction fit with how much force it took to get it off but it truely is only a friction fit.

Use a open end wrench the same size as the rod. Place the wrench behind the knob and pry with a bar or tap with hammer. I've done both. The wrench reduces the chance of damage to the knob.
