”Never under estimate a SCUT.” Can I set precast concrete blocks with a Scut? Ok I wouldn’t expect that from any compact tractor and most utility tractors but a scut has pretty serious limitations. IMG_1040.JPG

I guess I miss read the original post....didn’t know he was moving 5k lb road blocks....or had a budget for a $40k TLB.....thought he might need to move some 1/2 ton rocks and 8’ long 30” downed oak....all of which a proper scut can do....all without tearing up your property.

How does that backhoe do at running a generator so you can power a welder or running a boat lift across the neighbors lawn without leaving ruts or maintaining a narrow 55” trail or splitting wood?

Around my property your construction tractor would be very limited, actually it couldn’t do anything.

You definitely aren’t lifting an 8’ long 30” diameter oak log with the scout. 1/2 ton would being generous. I think the op would be a lot better served with the increased loader capacity and ground clearance of a L series or at least a B series. I suppose if I really felt like it I could drive a generator off the front of the backhoe. And I’d never have a rear remote powered splitter. But I never recommend the op buy a full size tlb.

A B o L series or similar tractor should be more than enough for the long term on 5.5 acres. A scut would probably make the most sense, but I'd probably at least do with a B series. Yanmar makes a small 424 that would be a good match in regards to the machine size and capability.

B series Kubota sounds about right. For JD that is a 2 or maybe 3 series. For Massey check out the 1500 series. LS is the XG series. Kioti is the DK.

Kubota makes a standard B2601 and a B2650. The B2650 is a bit larger framed and has more features. B2650 will be within that 20k finanaced budget, but at 0% for 60m that is still $333/month payment.

CK in kioti, DK is the bigger machine, like a grand L in kubotaspeak.
Rural King has TYM, the RK37 perhaps, or it may be a tad large.

Used ones are out there - there's an L2501 on FB kubota forum for $16k with 22 hours, yes, 22.
