Sounds like it may be the lug on the switch..

For the record, i have a tc33d 2003 and have had the ignition switch go bad and i replaced with no problem and the glow plug relay went bad and i replaced no problem and have had the fuse blow a few times and i replaced with one of those that reset themselves and have had no problems since but those 3 issues are common on TC33d. My current problem is when i go to start it i get clicks most of the time and i have to keep turing key off and on until it takes and some times several times to get it to take and i know it has something to do with starter or solenoid and i just keep waiting for it not to start before i fix it. Expensive fix!!

Sounds like an interlock switch or solenoid to me... ( could also be bad ground somewhere..)

I have all of the problems stated in this thread. What has temporarily solved my problems is.. keeping my new battery on a maintenance battery charger when not using tractor. If i don't keep the charger on i have all or some of the problems when starting the tractor. It seems that the problem is voltage related not amps. Alternator is working ok. No answer here, just an observation. Maybe this will help someone to find the answer.

Have a good tractor day

The problem I reported when this thread started was what is reported in this last report. DX33 would only grunt so I bought a new battery. It then started but I must admit the battery did not seem all that hot. Have not used it much and then it would not start. I pulled the battery off and put it on a small charger for a couple of hours and then it started the tractor. A friend of mine who is a jack leg mehanic feels the problem is the alternator. He claims a defective alternator can put a slow drain on the tractor while parked even though it charges properly when running. Does this make sense to others here? He said I need to pull the alternator and carry it to a shop for a check.

I think your friend is pretty smart. He has suggested one of many things that can cause a slow bleed of the battery. If you want to eliminate the alternator, just remove the wires going to it, but don't remove it. If the battery quits draining, it's the alternator. If the battery continues to drain, then the problem is not the alternator. Any circuit that stays hot when the key is off is suspect. That includes things like the emergency flashers and even the ignition switch itself. Troubleshooting this kind of slow drain problem is one of the toughest jobs. Some people just give up and disconnect the battery everytime after using the tractor.

I had starting problems with my TC33DA. Sometimes it would start fine, other times it would blow the fuse, or repeated start attempts would eventually get it to crank. First, I replaced the fuse with a circuit breaker, but it would still fail to start on occasion. I eventually bought the parts from my local dealer to install the relay. They claimed to be the ones who initially tracked down the problem for CNH. The fix worked well, and I have not had any starting problems since.
