Last fall I took the tension spring off the 60 inch MMM on the BX2200 as per the manual. I can not get it back on. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif What did you do to get it back on, did you use a tool? or whatever to get it back into place. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

HELP!!!

Boy, these are always fun!! You'll want to use a screwdriver (or similar tool) to act as a lever to pull the spring into the hole.
I strongly suggest you have safety glasses on, by the way.
But, unless your fingers are a heck of a lot stronger then mine, use leverage of some sort. Think about where you need to stretch the spring so you pick a good "fulcrum" for the lever.

If you have a snowmobile dealer near you, go there and ask him if he will sell you or let you borrow the tool that he uses to put the springs on the exhaust pipe flanges. Sled exhaust systems are held to the engine by springs that are quite stout. The tool is basically a 1/8" rod with the end formed into a "J". The other end has a Tee handle and you can exert a great pull on the spring with this tool. I have one in my toolbox and use it for a lot more than snowmobiles. it beats vise grips or levering them on with a screwdriver, hands down.

If you want to buy one, go to www.denniskirk.com and order one.

Tom,

Wait until I can get a beer, come over, and watch you try to kill yourself. I know this first-hand, because I wrestled with that **** spring for about 15 minutes before I had my "D'oh" moment. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Leave the belt off the spindle on the right side. Put the spring on (easy when there's no tension). THEN put the belt over the spindle.

It's way, way easier that way... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Spring tool )</font>

I'm glad somebody found the tool in Dennis Kirk. I was out doing spring yard work. I use the tool for many other uses other than exhaust springs. It's a GREAT addition to ANY toolbox.
