Well...
I can now confirm that either this 2900 was is for body work and had a new paint job to the under carriage, or that the oil drain plugs have never seen a socket in their life. :)
I had to chip the blue paint off of the 17mm drain plugs to get my socket on them. They drain plugs were painted in place.

Based on the fact that the engine oil is original, (Filter was blue as well) and the air filter was really dirty. I suspect that the transmisison fluid is original and that no other service has been done during this tractors life.

Thank you all for the suggestions on starting service now. Better to have the service now than at 300 hours. :)

Other questions:

Am I asking for long term trouble with this tractor?

The transmission fluid is a milky white. Do I need to completly drain the cylinders as well?

Is it typical for a dealer not to service a tractor prior to reselling the unit?

Change the fluid, all of it. And the filter. Then check again after 10 hours. If still dirty or milky, do it again.

On my TN70, replacing all the hydro fluid and filter is about 100 dollars and my time.

The milky white fluid would certainly concern me. (Did water cause this? ) I would bring this to the attention of the dealer and make sure it is recorded in writing in case this causes future problems. I wouldn't think it would be typical for a dealer to sell a tractor that they didn't at least inspect first. Heck, assuming they bought it or took it in trade, they should have done that when they first acquired it! :( These questions need to be asked and answered by the dealer as quickly as possible to protect whatever rights you may have under the law regarding this transaction. (In many States you can return purchases within a certain time period for a full refund.)

Good luck! As others have stated, these are tough tractors and will take lots of abuse, and 240 hours isn't much on the clock. Hopefully you can get this problem resolved and have many good years with this tractor.
