Can anyone tell me what the small adjustment metal shaft is located immediately to the left of the Range Shift Lever? See attached image.

It's a knurled shaft, roughly 3/8" x 1" high. Seems to have left/right rotation action in it's normal state and also when pulled on to elevate the shaft.

My YM2310D Operation Manual illustrates the shaft but does not document its function, unless of course I just completely missed it. Thanks for help.

If I am right I think that is the knob you lift while pushing the range shift lever foward to put the range in the lowest speed usually used for tilling. This only works in the first range, ie put the tractor in the first range, lift the knob and the range lever moves farther foward and the tractor will move foward at a very slow pace. I have a 2310 and I think this is the same for both tractors

Thank you Cliff. That does make good sense, and I will try it. Not sure if this control is meant to be in addition to the 'C' designation on the Range Shift Lever diagram, but I'll find out. I understand the 'C' is the Creep (super low) gearing, just not clear if lifting of this knurled shaft is enabling the Creep position or something else. I guess the fact that the shaft also has left/right rotational movement is not applicable and does nothing.

Hey Bruce I don't know if its the same, but my 2610 will not go into C if you don't move the lever, I'm thinking right to left, you have to two hand it,one moving the little lever and holding it in place and the other one putting it in C gear, and when you pull it back to first the little lever will move back. and yes C gear is slow, my 9 month old nephew can out crawl it, I've not had him to race it or anything, just know from chasing him around the house /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif, LOL hope this helps..Robert
