Yes, this thing normally stays out at my boss' place in the Tx hill country. I told him that if there is something in the fuel tank that could be clogging the pickup tube, to have his sons drain it, put some nuts and bolts in it and shake it to clean the rust out. Also told him to put an ounce of 2 stoke oil per gallon in fuel for top end lube.

There was 1 more small thing I noticed. The injector pump has it's own fuel pump built into it, there is a fuel line that goes from the manual plunger to the "IN" side, then a fuel line to return excess fuel going back to the fuel tank. On the "Out" line, the outlet tube fitting is smaller diameter than the tank's return tube, so I used a small radiator clamp to cinch the bigger hose to the smaller tube fitting. Stock fitting was a circular spring type clamp which didn't have enough oomph to collapse the hose around the tube.

I did notice how much parts cost for this 13 year old Mule. OUCH, if you have to buy anything serious. Fuel injector assy over $1600. Fuel filter over $60. Fuel manual plunger over $116. If I had bought all the fuel lines from Kawi, it would have been about $100 for all 3.

These dainichi motors arent cheap either. The price to go Diesel is HIGH!!!

I babied mine for thirteen years. Looks like new. Then the Crank broke! Hit me like a diagnosis of cancer in the family! Kawi said, "so sad, too bad". One letter higher up and they came good for the crank and some other related parts!

Yes prices for parts are nothing short of obscene!

Still think Kawi makes one of the best machines out there. Worried though, that with all the STUPID manufacturers basically building high speed dune buggies, the law will clamp down on road use of these farm-use UTVS after a few stupid people kill themselves (or others)! I make sure I have a slow moving sign on the machine and always put some farm related stuff in the back. Was even thinking about putting some fake spray arms on the mule!

I think the Line in the Sand has been drawn with UTVs.

Sane road use of ATVs (w. helmets) is tolerated around here, but not UTVs.

IMO, I'd say this is because UTVs are evolving to be more car-like.

I had read about the broken cranks, and that some were warranted when about a year old without failing. I thought that possibly they were getting driven thru deep water and breaking the cranks. Yours is the first that I've heard that was babied, so I guess it is a real problem. Very, very surprised that they warrantied it after so long. With only 18hp, the thing is kind of slow, only 22 mph shown for top speed on speedo. But I'm sure it's a billy goat in low on the trails.

Gas in a diesel will make the heads run really hot which can burn valves. Burned valves will give you a diesel that idles but has no power. I did this by accident once myself on a John Deere 1070. Getting my head reworked fixed it.
