Thank You this auger idea is excellent. Do you think you could be a little more specific of how and where you would mount this contraption? Your input is and the additional answer/s are greatly appreciated. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi, and i wish you all enjoy your Sunday with or without your equipment. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We are scratching our heads, plotting, arguing (nicely) and at times we are so amazed what you guys are coming up with. Keep this flow of brilliant, but also very practical suggestions going.

A professional landscaper had the following to say about our project here:

If you are looking at mulcing tipical mulch beds it would be hard to manuver around plants with out covering them up. also you are now putting a pice of heavy equipment on the lawn. Also how do you get the back side of the bed or raised beds. I am not too shure how this application works, but can you easly control depth, speed, quantity. How about delaquit plants is this a problem. Are you able to keep most of the mulch in the bed or are you spelling alot out require significat clean up. What about tight areas can the equipment get into them such as gates and or small side yards. Are you focusing manly on the residental side of the market or commercial? Sounds like a decent Idea a little more info and I am sure i could come up with more questions and or suggestions. Sounds interesting!

I don't have much to add except that I have seen bark blowers used commercially in the beach resort areas for large landscaping projects in "condo compounds." This link takes you to the smallest unit I have seen. While not reasonable for the project, the principles of operation might help.

When we are testing our prototype in a few weeks, would you like to come and see? You can't be to far from Bucks County, PA.

Thanks for your input too! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( Hi RegL,

Was it what John mentioned or possibly the row mulcher from Millcreek Mfgr. ?
Thank You very much for remembering anything at all! You stimulated John and our brains here. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

John's side discharge bucket is something like what I saw. Or at least what I think I saw. I'm beginning to think it was in a dream cause I can't find it anywhere now.lol! I'm going to try to attach a really crappy sketch of what I think I saw. Hope you can see it.

Here are two opinions about the Ultimate solution:

You’ll have it all over the flowers and even in the windows with that modified snow blower.
from Steve

and here is Chalie's opinion:

Steve's right.
You don't want a blower or spreader. You want
something hat will reach out, then down in the beds to
deposit mulch to the ground, in little pile(s), with no
waste.
